How can we do business with stolen money

Who does profit belong to if someone invests in a business with stolen capital, the owner of the money (opinion 1) or the thief (opinion 2)

So let’s say someone followed opinion 1 and used minimal stolen money to pay for their house but it’s not their house, it’s their parents and they have no control over it . They are aware that using something stolen in a business may require a person to return the profits back to the owner of the money (depending on what opinion someone follows) .now what about a person whose bank account is using that home address, their government ID, their passport, their driving license, their phone numbers, their SIM contracts, insurances etc . How can we start a business or a job when there will always be a link to that house that was used to funded by minimal stolen money. It would be costly and  difficult and time consuming to put all of this on another address espcially when other peoples houses have some stolen money contamination in them and they may not even let the thief use their address for their own benefit.  Does this mean we can’t ever do business in this situation . This would also make it extremely difficult to get a job because they would need our bank accounts Id, address, contact details etc . Lastly , The phones and  cars itself, aren’t funded with haram money but rather the home address that was used to file as an  address for the insurance company has some stolen money in it .

Worrying about your sins and looking for a way to rectify it is praiseworthy.

We understood from the teachings of the Messenger Sallallāhu alayhi Wasallam that it is a grave sin to steal.

Hadhrat Jaabir (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrates that Raçoulullāh (Sallallāhu Alayhi Wasallam Sallam) said, “No meat (i.e. person) that was nourished with Harām will enter paradise. Every meat (i.e., person) that was nourished with Harām is more deserving of the Fire.” (Musnad Ahmad, Dāramī Baihaqī; Mishkātul Masābīh Page 242)

One should return the stolen item, money to the owner. If the owner is not to be found, then the item or money should be given in Sadaqah.

In your situation, you should return the money, not the item bought from the stolen money.

If the total stolen amount was paid back, then you are the owner of the item or house.

It is permissible for you to use the address of this above-mentioned house. There is no contamination of Harām in the address or anything linked to it.

The sooner the better for you to withdraw the Harām money.

Allāh Ta’ālā knows best.
