As-salamu-alaykum

Can you answer my question as follows

If a muslim studies all world religions including islam to identify which is the true one, will he be deemed a kafir for such an approach since he wants to be certain which is the correct religion, because some people say that muslim has to be certain that islam is true and uncertainty in the heart can be kufr, purpose of doing research is to achieve certainty.

Will such an attitude when I didn’t have 100% certainty in the truth of islam will it make me a kafir at a time of marriage?

Do doubts make muslims an apostate that renders nikah as invalid and children born in a  marriage as illegitimate?

At the time you were searching for the right religion according to your ideology, you were not considered as Muslim.

To be a Muslim there are three elements which could constitute Īmān.

1. Firmly believing with ones heart (Tasdeeq bil Qalb).

2. Verbally proclaiming ones believe (Iqrar bil Lisān).

3. Practical implementation on the dictates of Īmān (‘Amalun bil Jawārih).

Believing firmly in Islam is crucial, by one doubting render the latter a kaafir (apostate). Your marriage is not valid islamically and if any child were born, they will be illegitimate.

If you believe in Islam, you should recite the Kalimah (Shahādatayn). Perform your Nikāh and live a life of obedience to Allāh.
